Weekend racing

Posted on August 1, 2008

I decided and there will be none.

After yesterday’s Fiesta Island I figured I would be sitting in a race for 10 minutes, if that…. So I think that I might do one last race end of the month and that is it for my season. I am not burned out, but just this back injury is sidelining me… sucks….

On another note. Gas prices are going down and it seems that for the next month or so it will keep going down. My question is, for next year, what is going to happen? How are people going to react to $5 gas? I know that I will be picking my races and FOR SURE carpooling UNLESS I need “me” time, which sounds pretty sissy to me…

your thoughts……

Your flash video pretending to be a Nega-Coach ad is unauthorized use of someone else’s material. That’s not a very nice thing to do without asking first.

    Dave, sorry… its gone.

Meant to be a joke. Gone for good.

Hmm…I have this vision of H.A.L.

“Look Dave, I can see you’re really upset about this.

I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently, but I can give you my complete assurance that my work will be back to normal.

    What are you doing, Dave?”

Some people were finding your site through wheelsuckers, Dave.

    Your site was funny, Dave.

But now it seems that your ironic bitterness is more bitter than ironic, Dave.

Is it you that sucks, Dave? Are you truly angry at juniors, hot chicks and rich masters? Is it because they go faster than you do, Dave?

Is it lonely in space, Dave?

    What are you doing Dave?

Yeah, JH, you can pull my comment(s) if it (they) cause(s) you grief. Your fake Nega-Coach ad was better than the whole Nega-Coach site.
    I’m gonna go ride now!

Dumbest thing I ever read. I discovered the Nega-Coach site based upon the “pretend ad” on this site. Who in their right mind would complain about free traffic coming to their site?

Eric, very cool that you maintain a record too….

Since I started writing I have found that MANY people do write and keep records of their adventures….

BTW, dont know what happened to you (other than you messed up your hip pretty bad), but with time everything comes back to normal man. The only limiting factor is the mind. That is the great advantage that professional and gifted athletes have, they have learned to believe that they can do it AND execute it. Not saying we are mentally weak, just we dont have enough time to practice the skill…

Keep on writing. I will be checking.

    My scars limit me.

    They chafe when I pedal.

Actually JH, I disagree. I think cycling is the sport of the eternally optimistic, but chronically under-talented. What other sport can a no-talent guy like me focus on to the point that he, through careful training and clever tactics, can crush guys who turn a 45 minute 40k on a diet of nothing but Oprah re-runs and ho-hos?

In running, I’d be turning 4 hour marathons, tops. In cycling, I’ve rubbed elbows with some of the great riders of our (my) time.

the mind does limit what the body can achieve, but the body has an upper limit.

that’s why i keep landing in the damned ecnalubma after races–i keep exceeding my capacity, which in most endurance sports would be a badge of honor. In the psycho world of cycling, I simply got dropped again and I’m back to the drawing board for more tactics and careful training!

…and now that my asthma attack has abated, i’m going to sleep!
