V02 max numbers
Posted on December 9, 2008
I will be brief… and to the point.
The test basically told me to lose more weight…. crap.
Weight: 192lbs
V02max: 54 ml/kg/min
V02 at LT: 36 ml/kg/min
Max V02 power: 440 watts
LT V02 power: 290 watts
Resting HR: 42
Max HR: 196
The bad parts:
- Efficiency is at 67% (march last year was 85%)
- I am 11lbs overweight
The good parts:
- Power is pretty decent, at least MAX and has been increasing every year
- I HAVE fat to loose
I will not lie, this was a really hard test. It was worst then others i have done before because I could see the numbers…well, at least until I exploded. But I am looking forward to battling the weight issue. 3 weeks ago I was down to 186 and feeling great. So I know it is possible and according to todays evaluation, my ideal weight would be 176lbs. I know I won’t get there, but 180 is doable. I know it is.
So…………
If I can loose those pounds and up the MAX power by 10 watts (sounds reasonable) and up the efficiency, I should be looking pretty good. I really hope I can get LT power to 360watts. That would be very good. I was at 340 two years ago, so its possible…
Now let me go eat some M&M’s

Yeah I know all about the battle with sweets… The easiest way I have ever shed weight was by switching on the vegan switch. The weight just fell off effortlessly. Also, when I switched from coffee to green tea in the morning I lost about 7 pounds over the coarse of a month(that was the only change I made).
Nice Power numbers- looks about right for December I suppose.
Good luck training out there
No way!!!!! Coffee? I guess i can see it the way I take my coffee… half coffee, the other half is creamer and not the regular creamer, but coffeemate…. a LOT of it.. sometimes even in cereal…
As far as numbers go, I need to loose the weight, get efficiency up to 80% or close and I should be OK. Easier said than done
