Tucson Bicycle Classic
Posted on March 24, 2008
So I decided to go to Tucson instead of doing San Dimas.
Nothing against San Dimas
. They have a mighty fine race. But it is just not for me. I have never finished the race and for some reason it just brings up bad memories.
Driving, financially and time wise both races stand on equal grounds, so I am going out of state. I have done that race in 2006 and had a good time.
Watching registration go up in numbers makes things good to.
Initially we were going to have 6 guys out there, but they all bailed out on me and are going to San Dimas. I wish them luck
Monday we will swap stories. To be honest I have been terrorizing teammates with race course stories, so I will let them figure this one out.
This morning I figured out all the climbing. I ran the numbers like a mad scientist. I think the sharpest climb in the whole stage is the last 0.5 mile of the TT at 5.8%….creepy huh? The rest of the course (according to my calculations) should not exceed 3.5%, which is HALF of my “blow-up” grade, the grade where I start to malfunction and explode.
Wish me luck. I am going with the girlfriend in her Prius, which will be cool too…more numbers to crunch. I am expecting to shell out $40 on gas for the whole trip….let’s see how my predictions are.

Contact me about the frame. I have a buddy that has a carbon Felt that is in like new condition ( I don’t think he rode it more than 10 times). It should fit your buddy.
I am the buddy with a the felt carbon bike. It is a 2005 or 2006 F2C 58cm with only abut 500 miles on it. It is on spotless condition (I love the bike im only selling it because I could use the money) and rides like butter on the road but is pretty responsive while hamering. Its a high modulous carbon and fairly light weight. I built it up with a easton EC90 Aero Fork and a FSA Headset. It also has a campagnolo record carbon seatpost on it. I could let it go for 750 for the frame 1000 for the frame and fork and 1100 for the frame fork and seatpost. Let me know if your buddy is interested. I also have a bunch of ultegra 10speed parts and a pair of durace 06 wheels.
