Some thoughts on Bakersfield

————- Update, monday morning ———–

After a good night of sleep, I have to say that I am pretty happy on how things went down. I really like the course, its fair for everyone. Good mix of terrain, maybe not hilly enough or maybe the finishing stretch is a bit too long for some climbers to stay away, but overall excellent course.

As for the race, for myself, looking back I really did enjoy the race and the funk that I had been going through the last couple months has kind of faded away. My legs were there, not QUITE there but they were pretty good and that I was glad about. Its too bad I lost contact with the group on the false flat.. dang it! Anyways, lets see if I can carry this over to the next couple of weeks. I sure hope so.

Once again, Sam Ames and the gang over there put up a show. The course was awesome – everyone that I talked to liked this one MUCH better, and to be honest I think this is a better RR champ course than Vandenberg, even if it is hotter.

I know it was mother’ day weekend, but that was one great race. Hopefully they can get the fields to fill up next year. People missed out on a great event, no ass kissing here.

For the team effort of the day, it was split between the Triatletix gang and the NOW-MS guys in our field. The NOW guys took each other out getting ready for the sprint. It was sad to hear that because they did work a lot today just to ef up that bad in the end, oh well.

The triathlon lads managed to get second in an 11 man breakaway. They had 10 guys represented in the break… thats right! 10 guys got beat by this guy with no teammates. It was pretty funny to see the sprint. How bad was that?

I will think of more stuff and write it down… too many funny things happened there
