Ontario race #3, CAT-3

Posted on May 18, 2008

Short and sweet, both reports. Running out of juice on my PB.

Race starts under a nice 105 f temperature. I was looking forward to racing in the heat. It always suits me. The pace right of the line was pretty zippy but it soon settled. I went alone of with one more guy 2-3 times, cant remember. Got a preme and did some more work here and there.

Then something happened. The field split in half or more like a 25/40 rider ratio. I was caught in the bigger group, but it was in the back. Long story short, maybe 5 of us were trying to close the gap and I ended burning all my matches. Teammate made it across and by that time they were 10 strong!!!!

I pulled myself out with 2 to go. My head was about to explode and my legs were fried. I went to corner two and sat on the sprinklers… that felt really good, the cold water in the sun. Thurlow had the same idea, I mumbled some words to him and I heard the noise of silence. He must’ve been pissed for not making money earlier in the day.

Pretty weak racing on my end. Not really proud of it either, but I got caught asleep and I paid the price, oh well.
