Teammate convinced me to go race this weekend. Although I like the heat and the course I was not feeling good at all and after crashing all I wanted to do is heal up properly and re-align my body. So riding easy would have been better…

BUT….

I went anyways…

107 at the start in the shade!!! Slowest race ever. Windy, hot, miserable. SC Velo had maybe 8 guys. They attacked and a lot of them sat out to dry in breaks that looked that might not work. It was just too hot an windy.

The plan for the two of us was to get in a move and make it stick. Well, my teammate attacked and attacked and took pulls but nothing came out of it. I was sitting in the back and tried to counter him a couple of times. I was really trying to egg the other guys to start chasing. It somewhat helped.

Breaks got reeled in and thats how it went for 40 or so minutes. With 11 minutes to go two guys jumped and I8 was waiting for my teammate to get on it… he yells at me to go and I jump. I catch the guys and we start to rotate. Pretty even pulls I would say and slowly but surely the gap started to open.

Now all the douche bags that were sitting in decided to start chasing and man, the field just fell apart. We lost one guy and for the last 2 laps it was this SC Velo kid and I. We traded pulls without bullshitting and were covering ground.

Last time around into the headwind he attacked and dropped me. Oh well.. I held in for second. I guess the field was closing in pretty quick but I had no idea what type of gap I had.

Glad I went and did the workout. Opted out of doing the 30+ and the 1/2/3 after that shit… waaay to hot.

Now its back to training fro Sisquoc.
