Ontario – 1/2/3

Full field and a stacked one too.

So if my plan was to sit in the CAT 3 race, in this one my skin would NEVER EVER see the wind.

The great thing about it being a big field is that it is very easy to sit in, well, easier.

So of we go. First lap some guy has an issue with his wheel, he has no wheels in the pit, Bahati offers him to use his wheel, Bahati says that his name is on the wheel, the guy replies “what’s your name again?”, Bahati tells him to ef off and the whole back section gets a good laugh. it was all fun and games though. pretty funny.

Of course people start attacking left and right and i am just chilling, making sure I get enough water, don’t get wind, do little as possible work, etc, etc…

I was never in real trouble even though speeds sometimes were pretty good. I think that at the end of the race we ended up doing something like 28mph average.

From where I was sitting there was really nothing going on. I could see groups go up the road and get brought back fairly quickly. With 10 to go I made sure to save some of the juice for the sprint, which I’d rather be a part of over any other race. So 3 to go I move up and the yelling starts, people are confused and lines start to form. Lead-out guys start falling back and with one to go I am sitting OK.

Last couple of corners I loose spots, quite a few, I don’t want to mess anything up, since I think it is a privilege to be in that race and not a right. Last corner comes around and my sprint was pretty weak. 1400 watts, but the speed!!! not super fast but I did get it up to 40mph which was nice. I know not much left for me and 1400 watts is a fucking hamster sprint too.

In any case, good workout for the legs and I think I might be ready for Tucson.

BTW, Menzies won by a hair. Toyota 2nd and Bahati 3rd.

    Jan,
I have a size XL Giant TCR that I would part with for $450 if your friend is interested. It’s no Tarmac but it’s cheap and light.

A place for me to speak my mind and hear what people have to say. Sometimes too harsh, sometimes brutaly honest
