Off topic – I hate LA

Posted on April 22, 2008

Today I had to go to LA to get my passports renewed.

Left my house at 5:25 for a 8:30 am appointment. Everything went cool until I hit the “Commerce” section in LA. What a place… always congested, dirty, rude drivers, idiots working on their makeup while driving, fucking reading books in traffic and God knows what else is going on.

I get to the consulate at 8:28 am on the dot. I fly upstairs, walk into the room and this piece-of-shit-plastic-badge-wearing-wanna-bee security guard asks me what I was doing. Bitch, I have an appointment, which by the way, they charged me to set and it is the only way to do it. So right now I am down, gas money and $13 for the appointment setting call.

I go to the bathroom cause I had coffee and I was stuck in traffic for 3 hours with a gallon of water, so my urge to urinate was taking control of my mind. Get back to the room and the “cop” tells me I missed my appointment so I have to wait for the next.

Cool, things go smooth had all my stuff. Except I was short on cash. Ran down to the ATM, got charged the fee ($2), came back up and laid down $131 for the new passport.

DONE, NEXT!!!!!

Get back to the car and there it is, sitting on my windshield. A ticket. I guess you need some sort of special permit to park on the street in LA. What a brilliant concept. I was late, there is no way I would miss my appointment, so I parked without even looking, plus I had to pee.

So the other fake cop handed me the ticket. $45.

Go to the next consulate down the street. Got all my stuff, $30 for this one plus $6 for the self addressed envelope, which had a stamp of $5.25.

So after it was all set and done I missed half a day of work, spent $250 and now I finally will be able to enjoy the joys of traveling legally.

I don’t know man, how you LA people can live up there. I guess it is a lifestyle. I honestly felt taken advantage of. I know most of it is not LA’s fault, but there were many things that just make me never want to live in a place like that… at least not on Willshire boulevard…

Sorry for the downer, but it has been a stressful week and it is only tuesday.
