Off-season crap
Posted on October 3, 2007
Off season started for me as soon as I got back to the US. With the back still hurting I tried doing swamis and of course hoping that they would be going slow I thought it would be a good idea to get 90 miles in without much effort….you know, just nurse the back injury.
What I did not take into account were the 50 million triathlon guys/gals that would show up….apparently there is a big race sometime soon…I heard it would be in Hawaii and its supposed to be hard. Well, these guys tore everyone a new one…except for the usual socal strongmen…everybody else was left at theiir mercy. This Stadler kid is pretty strong
In any case, as they have been gearing for the Ironman all cyclists have been gearing down from the season, so it is obvious that they are there to inflict lots and lots of pain into us. Its quite funny….I hope they stick around till early January…not saying i will be doing much of the hurting, but I will be cheering Karl and the likes to open the can on them…..
So that has been pretty much it. Swamis saturday, easy ride sundays…I am getting soem 200 miles/weekend, so thast is pretty good, but the best part is that I am back to rowing. At least for now. I got thrown in an 8 that is going to the Charles (google head of the charles – its kind of an important race too). I was in the “old” boat…guys average age is about 50….we raced the young guys…average age….less than 30. Well, we beat them pretty good…And as far as the exercise, think of it as a TT when you are not in shape for it and consider the effort to be hard enough to go 15 minutes balls out, but it lasts 17 AND remember the burn in the legs, except it is also in your ams, back, neck, shoulders, abs…everywhere. It was quite the experience. Glad to be back on hte water.
As far as losing weight, my never ending battle, I have dropped 4lbs…which is about 1lb/week….I should be good by nelson’s landing!
