Good week

This was a busy training week.
I also did my second V02 max, as part of the study i am participating in. Numbers are almost identical. Subtle differences here and there.
- higher HR at threshold. 165bpm
- Same weight, 189lbs
- Higher V02 though… 56
- Power at LT was also a tad higher… 317watts
- max was a bit lower. I cracked really bad. 430W
The biggest jump in numbers, was my lactate levels. 18mmol, which I think is the equivalent of giving birth to twins at the same time!! So that was pretty good.
After my test I rode down to fiesta, did some BS laps and then entered the action. Nobody relevant showed up… that includes me (non-relevant). BTW, my test was at 1:30. Last meal was at 11:30 and I ended up eating something after fiesta.)
ALMOST 7 hours with no food and all that effort. I left the island early as I was running on fumes and had no more energy to even hold my match book. I think I used my last match in the last minute of the V02, so yeah, I was in poor shape.
No racing for me. I trained and prayed for everyone at San Dimas. I am sure it was a great race, but not my specialty…
Ended up with 18.5 hours of riding, which i am not sure how I ended up doing. I ride really early in the AM and then this weekend I put in 10. Pretty good if you ask me. Probably the biggest week in a while.
ON A SAD NOTE:
I found a crack on my bike. I think that my BRAND SPANKING NEW SL2 might have to go to frame heaven. I am not sure. Waiting to see what the specialized people have to say. I have sold all my spare bikes and a new frame has not really been budgeted, so I might have to convert my TT frame to a road bike or just do TT for a while. Almost shed a tear when i saw the cleaning tissue snag on the perfectly smooth frame… Needless to say I exploded in rage. dang it. Lets see what happens.

I cracked my frame at Murrieta, and Cannondale said no dice.
I sent to Calfee design in N. California, will be about $400 to rewrap carbon and repaint….Just fyi. here is the link:

I saw it… I almost cried again when I saw that…
sucks man… I feel your pain. I am not sure if mine can get fixed.. weird spot. We’ll see.

Jan.. if u broke ur bike, go to calfee. a teammate broke his last year, and calfee fixed it up cheap. it was an sl2, and he says it rides as good as ever. rides it this year too even. only cost him $500 i think. he had damage in the top tube. give them a call. it can’t hurt.

As a follow up…Calfee is already working on my bike. They called me within an hour of recieving it….Super cool people too. They have already started the work. I will give you updates.
