Fiesta, Butch, Ventura SR

Posted on April 24, 2009

Yesterday’ fiesta was pretty quick. I looked at my data after and we averaged 27.04 mph on a windy day. That was some good work.

One thing though, I keep getting myself in a bad spot. I intend to go for the sprint and for the last 3 weeks I have been forced to take a pull with 1/2 to 1/4 lap to go. I mean, I don’t mind it, but I wish i could sprint instead. And when I say I am forced, guys in front of me take a hard pull, then when its my turn I don’t fell like pulling off and being a complete douche, so I do my part.

On a sad note, Butch, who I was riding with this past weekend is in the hospital. He went down hard doing the Great Western Loop. He is really hurt but people are hopeful he will make a recovery. Man, i have seen too much shit go down on that route… too much

And on a last note, Ventura Stage Race has modified the prologue course. Now it is FLAAAAT. Not sure what to think about this as it now will be a MAD sprint through the streets of Ventura… instead of the calculated energy expenditure THEN hitting the big hill. There will be no catastrophic explosions on the course, which means the time gaps will be really close, which means people will be going for everything, which means CRASHING.

Still thinking about it… one other note… the hotel… @ almost $200/night sounds a bit steep… any recommendations for a decent place to stay for maybe half? 60% of that?

Speaking of crashing, I’m going to scope and sweep the sand off of the road at Fiesta Island.

you will need some sort of machine for that…

And on the same topic, noticed how the same guys would hug that side and kinda ride with the attitude that “oh maybe the sand is gone this lap”….

It was like people were actually AIMING for the sand on Thursday!! I had to keep reminding people when we got close “sand! sand!” They would move at the last second…. did you notice all the wheel lines going through the 2″ deep parts?

A place for me to speak my mind and hear what people have to say. Sometimes too harsh, sometimes brutaly honest
