December 7th weekend

Posted on December 9, 2008

Keep it short here.

Rough weekend. I was going to be rowing on Sunday so I decided to take it easy on Saturday. To be honest, even if I had tried to stay with the group I would not have made it. I felt like shit right from the get go.

Once the pace picked up so went the heart rate and I finally gave up right after the first small incline. The surge broke everything up and I was left there, with 2 more guys…

Lucky me, it spared me from a big crash that happened just 300 meters up the road. Everyone stopped and I did for a bit but then went my way, riding slower than what they would go, so i knew they would catch me. I honestly had to save anything I had for the next day and I was already uzzy from the first effort.

Rode back with a teammate and then by myself home. Felt really tired.

Sunday came around and the legs felt much better. The regatta was OK. Had some shitty racing… really tough to race with other people when you do not train together. Just does not go well. So gradually my mind was getting crushed, to the point where I almost just packed my crap and would have left the place. My buddy convinced me to race the last race and we ended up winning.. shitty win, but a win nonetheless. Mentally I was out of it.

I think I figured out what is going on. WORK!!!!!!! I counted 12 sites that I am currently working on…

Anyways, it was not a good weekend and to top it off I am heading into a V02 max in 10 minutes. Will report on the way back.

One last thing, I saw a huge car wreck on my way to Long Beach. Right on a straight part of the highway. This douche bag in a Nissan Titan came flying by me, drifted to the left, drifted to the right and never corrected it… Hit the guardrail, started to spin, then slid sideways for about 50 meters, then shot across the highway and slammed into a little toyota corrola or something. The toyota got launched 3 lanes across and ended up tumbling all the way to the other side of the highway and landed up side down in the bushes. Wish the guy in the truck would have died.. he seemed OK, not sure what happened to the people in the little car. Speeding… gotta tell ya, it kills.
