If you were riding the coast yesterday and came up Torrey Pines you probably noticed a tent with some people distributing water, helping out with flats, cheering you on.

Well, I did and I stopped to chat a bit with these guys. They basically were hired to provide “support” to cyclists coming up Torrey Pines. I though that idea was pretty cool. They were handing out water bottles with gatorade, i think. But they were also capable of fixing flats and doing minor mechanical fixes.

According to them, an anonymous donor put up money for this. After some online searching I found out that this anonymous donor might have a name: Sami Tauber. I am not sure if this is a man or women since I have read this person being addressed as “her” and “him”. In any case, this person is the CEO of Bike Wear World. This seems to be a new bike apparel shop in San Diego. The website is under construction and I am looking forward to see what kind of products they will offer.

So if you make your way down the coast and make it to Torrey Pines be sure to stop by and grab some refreshments.

    I saw those guys, what is up with BLACK water bottles though? Kinda weird, I thought it was for some fun ride type event

    Sami Tauber, CEO, BikeWear World here. First, thanks for the kind words on the water station. Just to set the record straight I am a female(31yrs old)…I think a cute one too! Just kidding. I am the anonymous donor who has supported the biking community with black water bottles for all. Hey man, the black was the cheapest! But if you are passing through the top, give my girls a break and stop to smell the rose – free swag never hurt anyone! I am trying to launch a new concept store with only bike apparel for mountain, road, tri, spin, motoX, bmx and more. I am personally a triathlete myself and know what its like to work out and not have support on the road! So please show some love at the top of the hill on the weekends! We are here for you guys!
