Bakersfield – Part 2

Continuing on the weekend racing….
I also decided to race the douche bag race that morning…. I named it that way cause it is basically a cop out and a very lame race because it is very unfair to combine the fields.
The race was the 30+ 3/4/5 and me being a 3, I felt like a douche bag taking part of this race, but oh well. My plan was to sit in and sprint, no crazy efforts, no chasing paper cups, no instigating things here and there, just sit in and sprint.
The race started SUPER slow. I was sitting in the back and I thought the motorcycle was going to stall cause it just was not revving high enough to keep it running. I decided to kick start the race, take a couple of faster pulls and get guys going. I had to be back on time for the 3′s race
Get to the climb and a couple of guys start to go WAAAY harder than I wanted to. I just kept my pace and let them go. Did not really care about it. So 4 guys crested and I was chasing. Hooked up with 3 other guys and we actually started to work pretty well. I was holding back but still rolling it pretty good.
We catch 1 or two more guys and we continue to work until we get the time gap. 2 minutes with 4 miles to go. I pulled the plug and sat up. Rolled it up to the line and took the sprint for 5th.
Great opener.
I really wished the Triathletix would have raced a bit more aggressive, you know work the other 8 guys in the race. They owned half the field… they really should have won that race, even if they were all slower… you just work the shit out of the other guys.
Anyways, they worked really well on the flats. I had an opinion on them, but it changed after this race. Good job guys.
