A depressing reality
Posted on November 23, 2007
I am sitting here reading through Bicycling Magazine and they have this really depressing article on Ross Dillon a CAT-3 rider that got struck by some fucking dead beat hippie pot smoker. He is now half dead, sitting in a wheel chair and this chick it out there in the wild again.
2 years ago I was on a ride with a friend of mine and I saw something that I will never forget. Riding in east county San Diego we came accross this group of guys that were gathered around a friend of theirs, a Doctor by the way. He had crashed (broken fork) and had hit the pavement very hard. We arrived at the scene and he was pretty much dead. It reminded me of how dangerous this stuff can get.
This accident happened on Thanksgiving day and that rider succumbed to his injuries later in the hospital.
I have seen many cars crashes and a lot of people with various body parts mangled, being pulled out of cars, but this was by far the worse.
So if sometimes in a race I explode in your face, just remember, its not personal, it’s just that I want to keep living.

Dont be sad. Just remember to try living in the moment and do everything that you can every day of your life. No regrets…Ride for me – JH…Sami
I was getting back into racing shape last spring, going out for a 50 mile bike ride before work. It was daylight savings time and 5am. The sprinklers had been on in the front yard and it was dark. I was walking on the wet cement slipped and immediately broke my ankle – a double spiral fracture. I am just getting back into shape again but came to realize that I cant take anything for granted and live every day to its fullist. Kinda cliche, but check out Tara Llanes pro mountain biker on the new website. Have a good one. And thanks for letting me share!
Thank you for the kind words!
Yeah, I saw Tara’ ad in the same magazine. It is a tough reality.
I hit the water stops this weekend again….;-)
