14 days of sickness
Posted on March 17, 2010
I have spent the last 14 days sitting on my ass waiting to get better.
I had a case of walking pneumonia (semi-self diagnosed…. call with doc and some research). Its a mild case of pneumonia, but man, it put me down for the count. It really hit my lungs and riding or exercising at all was out of the question…
While I was out, my weight went way high. The first week was horrible. I reached 202 lbs. With no riding and the sitting around at home killed me. As the days went by my hunger got in control and today I am back down to 194 lbs.
Still 8 lbs over the weight that I was 5 weeks ago. I am lost as far as racing goes. Without the intensity and packing all the weight I will be lucky to make it to the last Ontario in good shape… just sucks.
Anyways, on and forward. The last two days I went on some rides and even though they were WAAAAY to hard for what I am supposed to be doing to feel better, I actually got something out of it. Coughed up a bunch of crap, got the legs moving and I am even sore right now… from a 2 hour ride with almost no climbing…. sounds like I am back to being myself!!!!
So, the next 6 weeks I will try to get back into it, get ready for the Barrio Logan crit. and SLR. Lets see if I can make it or not. I honestly dont care. Its funny, I ride with my boss and we keep telling each other how happy we are because we are not racing right now… boy oh boy are we in denial….BTW, he reads this, so I will get an earful sometime soon.

sorry to hear it… could be worse – try 5 months of that… although you still managed to gain more in 2 weeks than I have in 5 months on the couch – haha!
dude, that is horrible. What happened?
BTW, if I sat ont he couch for 5 months I would probably keep that weight. My *natural* weight is around 200lbs. Never past that when stopped exercising. The hunger goes away when I do nothing, the problem is at 200lbs and no lifting weights I have big giant tits – not good.
“sports hernia”… surgery, plus groin re-injury. Can’t ride at all… sucks!
